For starters, the C/V is outfitted with solid interior side panels and an flat aluminum loading floor. It has a claimed 1,800 pounds (816 kg) cargo payload and width enough to lay a standard 4x8 piece of plywood between the wheel wells, plus it can tow up to 3,600 pounds (1,632 kg).
Boasting a 20 gallon (75.7 litre) fuel tank, Ram says the C/V will achieve 25 mpg (9.41 L/100km) on the highway which it claims to be best-in-class mileage.
Other notable features include a heavy-duty radiator and heavy-duty transmission oil cooler, which help the vehicle overcome the various demands of small-business owners.

Powering the Ram Cargo Van is a Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 engine that develops 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The C/V also comes equipped with a front anti-sway bar, while at the rear of the van there is the same twist-beam axle with coil springs used in the Caravan.

The Ram C/V’s most obvious competitor is Ford’s Transit Connect, and now that two of the Big 3 are back in the light-duty commercial van business it begs the question of whether or not GM will enter the fray with something akin to the Chevrolet Astro/GMC Safari vans that once dominated the segment.
The 2012 Ram Cargo Van will be assembled at the Windsor, Ontario assembly plant and will go on sale later this year.
